It’s important to note that career progression and promotions depend on number of years in one role and then passing the exam as per eligibility for the next level.


Work Life Balance

  • Grade B Officer works 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. Typically they leave before 6pm but may extend depending on urgencies which happens in every job.
  • As a typical RBI employee, unlike PSBs do not have customer facing job which decreases maximum number of unknown factors to worry about.
  • Work involves policy formulation and monitoring of existing policies followed by PSBs. It is a busy but considered least stressful job in the banking industry in officer cadre.
  • RBI employee get Saturday Sunday holiday and would not be bothered by work on holidays. He also get Full pay leaves as CL-15 Days, PL-33 Days, Public Holidays-18 Days for every year like any PSB.
  • For every two years RBI officer gets approximately Rs. 1 Lack per family member for travelling across the globe.
  • Along with all these perks RBI employee also enjoys the respect he deserves in society.

Salary

  • RBI grade B officer receives total benefits of approximately Rs. 20 Lakh to Rs. 26 Lakh per annum.
  • The Gross salary of a Grade B officer is Rs.1,06,0084/- along with he receives the other allowances such as rent of Rs.65000/- Petrol and other Allowances nearing Rs.20,000/- depending on the location where you are placed at.

Eligibility Criterial

Age Criteria:

  • 21 to 30 Years. for M. Phil. and Ph. D. 32 years and 34 years respectively.
  • For Reservation, Work experience in PSBs there is some age relaxation.

Qualification Criteria:

  • Any Graduation with 60% or equivalent and Post Graduation with 55% or equivalent.

Selection Process

Every year RBI conducts the RBI Grade B exam for selection of the officers. The exam is conducted in 3 phases. First 2 Phases are online Objective Tests followed by an Interview.

Phase 1 (Objective Test)

(200 Objective questions to be solved in 120 minutes.)

Phase 1 paper is a qualifying test for Phase 2. Those who have cleared the cut off of Phase 1 exam can appear for Phase 2.

Phase 3 (Interview)

Top candidates who have cleared sectional and overall cut off in mains exam are called for an interview.
